Home of the Melbourne Cup since 1861, Flemington is one of Australia's most significant cultural and sporting venues. Each year more than 400,000 racegoers flock to Flemington for the fun and excitement that is unique to the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Superbly positioned beside the Maribyrnong River with uninterrupted views of the city skyline, this National Heritage listed site also boasts the largest public rose garden in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Flemington Heritage Centre and Guided Walking Tours program give people the opportunity to experience the heritage, the heroes and the events that have made Melbourne Cup "the race that stops a nation" ™ and Flemington Racecourse one of the most famous racecourses in the world.

Walking tours
Opening hours
Year-round:
- Monday to Friday 10.30am to 3.30pm
- Tours depart at 11am and 2pm daily, or by appointment.
- Tour duration is approximately one hour.
On racedays:
- From gate opening to last race.
- Tours depart half an hour before races 2, 3, 4, and 5.

How to get to Flemington Heritage Centre

The Flemington Heritage Centre is located behind the Phar Lap statue, to the left of the first roundabout on Flemington Drive.
Ample parking is available.
